The history of the Aberdeen and District Junior Pennant League

The league was formed in 1968 at a meeting held at Nigg Bay Golf Club on Tuesday 19TH March.

Clubs represented were Bon-Accord, Caledonian, Hazlehead, Nigg Bay, Stonehaven and Victoria.

The meeting agreed to call the competition the Junior Section Inter Club Competition later changed to its present name Aberdeen and District Junior Pennant League

Northern later in 1968 joined the competition

There has been four Secretaries

Bill Christie (Nigg Bay GC) 1968 to 1979.

Bill Adams ( Caledonian GC) 1979 to 1987

Richard Smith (Royal Aberdeen) 1987 to 1992

Gordon Murray (Hazlehead GC) 1992 to date

The League has now 26 Clubs and the Competitions are:-

The Junior Pennant League the first winners were Bon-Accord GC in 1968

The Spence Trophy for the Junior Club champions, the first winner in 1970 being Donald Jamieson of Nigg Bay GC. later a winner of the Scottish Amateur Championship in 1980.

Off the Tee Trophy the first winners being Murcar in 1977.

Donated by the Evening Express Green Final and was originally presented to the winner of the League.

Hector Dey Trophy the first winner being David Cruickshank of the Bon-Accord GC in 1984.

Donated by the family of Hector Dey who was a member of Deeside GC.
